Praying for Peace and Justice on June 8, 2025
Gracious Living God,
Each week we come beseeching you to give us the strength and courage to find what is ours to do to bring justice to and relieve the suffering of so many in our world – immigrants, poor people, people of color, queer people, people in war zones, those living in areas deeply affected by climate change, our non-human fellow creatures. The list goes on.
Today we offer gratitude. Gratitude for all those who bring joy and creativity to us, not separate from the suffering but in the midst of it. We hold up especially on this Gay Pride weekend the sublime music of the International Pride Orchestra and the voices of the DC Gay Men’s Chorus. We see in them the astonishing complexity of your creation – each of these individuals has suffered for who they are and yet they are able, when banding together, to create breathtaking beauty.
And so we are thankful. And restored in our commitment to work for peace and justice in your world.
