Pray, please, with me:  Holy One, I come in my weakness in search of these words of love and peace you have placed in my deepest self.  Let me reach that place of peace and love and raise them to action.  Help me to share love and peace with my family, my friends and neighbors and our communities.  Amen

Let us pray.

While all of us crave for peace and justice, I find that fear comes in the way to not make this a reality.  One case in particular has haunted me over the last two weeks.  Let us put ourselves into the shoes, body, mind and spirit of those who find themselves in this fearful situation, like in the case of two people shown on TV. By publicizing this scene,  fear has spread among a certain people.

Creator God,

Too often, we feel overwhelmed by the darkness, or frustrated by the wrongs we see.  Too often, our hearts are burdened by the weight of troubles – in ourselves, in our community, in our nation and in our world.  Too often we have watched as our fellow humans have visited violence upon your creation and its people.

Yet, in the face of this weight, we ask you this morning to anchor us in gratitude.  Fill us with wonder for our very being, and awe for gravity that keeps our feet on the ground and the daily grace you bestow. …

Let us pray.

O Holy One, we come today … humbled by the heat of climate change and the bitterness of our political divisions, to ask for you help in finding ways to embody your Spirit of justice and conscious connection here and now.

Open our eyes to the simple ways we can treat each other with love and respect. 

Open our ears to the cries for justice and mercy from those who have been targeted for removal and retribution … especially people without the resources of influence and education to fight for themselves.…

For all those who have fallen victim to hatred and inhumanity, for those loved ones who are left behind to mourn, for the souls of those whose hearts are cold, God, hear our prayers.

For the children who are being born into this world of conflict and violence, for women and mothers who suffer needlessly, God, hear our prayers.

For all those who have been forced into unemployment, who long to return to work, for all those who struggle to support their families, God, hear our prayers.
For the soldiers who are misguided in thinking that their bullets will bring about peace, for those who feel called to conscientiously object to military orders, God, hear our prayers.…
