Praying for Peace and Justice on July 5, 2026
Let us pray.
O Holy One, we come today … humbled by the heat of climate change and the bitterness of our political divisions, to ask for you help in finding ways to embody your Spirit of justice and conscious connection here and now.
Open our eyes to the simple ways we can treat each other with love and respect.
Open our ears to the cries for justice and mercy from those who have been targeted for removal and retribution … especially people without the resources of influence and education to fight for themselves.
Open our hearts to hold both the joy of celebrating this country’s 250th anniversary AND the recognition of racial cruelty and greed that thread through our history.
Give us the capacity to hold it all as we listen and learn the Way of Jesus together.
We pray that you will guide us to the actions we can take, each day and longer arcs that we cannot know, to make your vision for peace and justice a reality in this world … beginning now, as we gather here in your name.
