Praying for Peace and Justice on January 18, 2026
Let us pray,
Holy One,
Peace these days often seems distant, and justice non-existent. In spite of our determination to remain non-violent, violence from new sources again and again takes over our streets, our country, and our world. Danger is near-by, if not imminent. Our faith falters; we are outraged and terrified.
Whatever is happening in this sensual world, we claim the spiritual world within us and all around. As we hold on to our inward journey, gradually our faith grows. As we surrender our personal will, slowly an immeasurably more profound purpose begins to take its place. The grip of compulsive entanglements gives way bit by bit, and our capacity to love and be loved is magnified. (Based on Words to Live By, Nov. 25, by Eknath Easwaran).
The church is not only an army on the march. It is also a hospital for the healing of us all, a community in which people grow to be saints. As we strive to more deeply surrender to a higher power, we trust that we are also healing the world and being guided by the Holy Spirit in the direction of our various calls. (Based on Journey Inward, Journey Outward by Elizabeth O’Connor).
May it be so.
