Praying for Peace and Justice on November 9, 2025
Dear God, your word and spirit have taught millions across the centuries to love our neighbors. You taught us through vision, the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament as well as many other faith traditions that lives, all lives, will be supported by organizing the means to share abundance where it is absent.
We pray that your support will continue to feed us with love, gratitude, faith and hope so that we continue to pursue your vision. May Peace and Justice prevail! Amen.
Background
For the Peace and Justice prayer this morning, I hold up “community-based organizations.” These organizations now seek to fill the gap caused by our federal government’s failures. This is best seen right now by the number of feeding programs that emerge and expand to meet the absence of SNAP benefits.
But not only in food and not only now, ongoing organized responses have arisen to meet needs of individuals, families and communities where inequalities threaten the well-being of all. These organizations are multiple. They are staffed by volunteers and professionals. They collaborate with government and seek policies and programs to create conditions where children, families and individuals can live safely and thrive.
Church of the Savior, early in its history, sponsored and assisted communities through donations. CoS set up programs like Sarah’s Circle and FLOC.
Today Seekers seeks to support organizations where members are involved and contribute by the programs of Domestic and International Giving.
I have no doubt that these community-based organizations contribute to Peace and Justice. Please join me in a prayer to support them.
