Sermons

Seekers recognizes that any member of the community may be called upon by God to give us the Word, and thus we have an open pulpit with a different preacher each week. Sermons preached at Seekers, as well as sermons preached by Seekers at other churches or events, are posted here, beginning with the most recent.

Feel free to use what is helpful from these sermons. We only ask that when substantial portions are abstracted or used in a written work, please credit Seekers Church and the author, and cite the URL.

"Living the Vision: The Courage of Our Faith" by Peter Bankson

July 02, 2006

Fear can shock us into immobility. We can encourage each other to huddle more closely together and bolt the doors of our upper room. In addition, we can help each other throw the doors open because we have experienced together the freeing call to action, which is the Spirit of Jesus in our midst.

“Living the Vision in My Own Life” by Cynthia J. Dahlin

June 25, 2006

I know that I need to update my lenses, take off my blinders and be more aware of people around me. I invite you all to consider if there are any people or groups you “erase” from your world, and, whether or not you feel personally called to serve them, at least give them the respect and dignity of inclusion and acknowledgement.

“A Born Again Congregation” by Pat Conover

June 11, 2006

We need to break camp every morning, break the circle every morning, and re-gather at the end of the day. Finding the circle in the evening is not automatic, but we cannot remember our direction without breaking camp. We cannot find food for the journey without breaking camp. We cannot find new companions for the journey without breaking camp. Moreover, we will miss important dimensions of trust if we do not break camp.
