Seekers recognizes that any member of the community may be called upon by God to give us the Word, and thus we have an open pulpit with a different preacher each week. Sermons preached at Seekers, as well as sermons preached by Seekers at other churches or events, are posted here, beginning with the most recent.

Feel free to use what is helpful from these sermons. We only ask that when substantial portions are abstracted or used in a written work, please credit Seekers Church and the author, and cite the URL.
“Reflections on Marriage” by Marjory Bankson
June 11, 2010
You surely know that in our self-centered culture, marriage is a kind of madness! An irrational act! An astonishing commitment! And after 28 years together, your decision to marry now is both a joyous occasion for your spiritual community to gather in celebration and support, and acknowledgment of the recent change in DC laws which had effectively prevented your marriage from taking place before.
Today, we are here to celebrate both!
“Living Gratefully” by Will Ramsey and others
June 6, 2010
My message today is about “Living Gratefully.” Just two weeks ago I was on retreat with men from the Seekers Church. As I look around many of them are sitting here this morning. Over the course of the weekend we experienced deep gratitude as we shared stories about our lives. So much was my exuberance that I asked Celebration Circle for the time to share our experiences with the entire family of Seekers.
“Living Differently: Called to Active Duty” by Peter Bankson
Trinity
May 30, 2010
Today is Trinity Sunday, a day when the church invites us to consider the presence of the Holy One in three different dimensions: as Creating God, Redeeming Christ, and Sustaining Holy Spirit. Not three different beings, but three different glimpses of one mystery. I think there are other places where we’re offered different glimpses of the same core truth. This is a season of “Living Differently.” Are we ready?
“Tastes of Heaven” by Jacqie Wallen
Pentecost
May 23, 2010
Sometimes, as happened to the disciples on Pentecost, we get a taste of heaven here on earth: a moment of unity in diversity, a moment of justice, a moment of peace and goodwill among people. These tastes of heaven can show us what it would be like to experience heaven on earth and give us something to strive for. Atomic fireballs were distributed to the congregation to give them “tongues of fire.”
“What Will it Take” by Will Ramsey
May 16, 2010
the seventh Sunday of Easter
When Kate lit the Peace and Justice Candle she prayed for One World, One Peace, One People. What will it take for you and for me to make the changes necessary for acceptance, tolerance and inclusion to occur among all people?
What does this question bring up for you? Right now as you sit here in this place; Seekers Church, worship service. Just notice. What am I thinking? What will it take?
