Classes are free and open to all. We serve a light vegetarian dinner before the class, for which we request a $5 donation. We value the conversation and sense of community we share during the meal and clean-up and find it deepens our connection to the classes that follow. Dinner starts at 6:45 and classes begin at 7:30.
We generally offer two classes per term, some online and some in the building. You need not be a member of Seekers Church to participate.
School for Christian Growth Fall Classes
Becoming Church: A Bible Study of the New Testament
Leader: Marjory Bankson
When: Tuesdays Oct. 21-Nov. 25 at 7-8:30pm
Where: On Zoom
This six-week zoom class is a survey of the New Testament in chronological order (meaning we start with Paul and not the Gospels). Our focus will be on how the understanding of church developed in the first and second centuries and do some comparing with our current experience of being church together. You can expect good content and community-building during class and reading assignments each week.
CHRIST IN THE RUBBLE: A Book Study
Leader: Paul Holmes
When: Tuesdays Oct. 21, 28, Nov 4 & 11 at 7-8:30pm, Bring your own dinner at 6:15pm.
Where: In Person at Seekers Church
“Christ in the Rubble” is written by the Palestinian pastor of Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem and is about faith, the Bible, and the violence in Gaza. It presents a historical, political and theological challenge to the dominant Western Christian theologies and perspectives about Israel, the land and the Palestinian people. Isaac uses terms like genocide, ethnic cleansing and apartheid. Isaac challenges the Church—particularly in the West—to speak out against the genocide in Gaza and to stand in solidarity with all Palestinians. This will be a difficult class, and essential on so many fronts. Seekers provides a respectful space for honest reflection and thoughtful action regarding the horrors in Palestine – from a Christian perspective.

Hebrew Prophets: How They Speak to Us Today
Leader: David Lloyd

Prophets arise during troubled times when people have great anxiety about the
trends in their national politics, their economy, their culture, and their religion.
We’ll discuss what current trends are troubling us and read excerpts from these
prophets to discern whether God is speaking to us through these prophets’ words.
Participants can use their own bibles. This course satisfies the requirements for a

deepen their practice. We’ll explore what mindfulness is and learn about the
science-backed benefits of mindfulness on the mind, body, and soul. Each week,
we’ll practice a range of mindfulness techniques and share with each other how
each method resonates with us. We’ll experience firsthand the benefits of
