The Beatitudes, offered by offered by The Eyes to See & Ears to Hear Prayer Group & The Learners & Teachers Mission Group
Congratulations, you poor people! Congratulations, you hungry people!
We've heard variations of these words from the Beatitudes all our lives but they are so puzzling. What do they mean and how do the Beatitudes instruct us to live our daily lives in the 21st century United States? Are Jesus's teachings to be taken literally, as an ethic for life, as Tolstoy believed? Do they merely express some ideal so unattainable that we don't need to pay too much attention to them, as others believe? This class will explore the Beatitudes through scripture study and exegesis, personal story, cultural references, discussion and a field trip to hear Bishop Tutu at the National Cathedral.
Finding My Call Now, offered by Marjory Bankson, author of Call to the Soul, experienced guide and relational teacher
Do you believe your life has a larger purpose than you are living now? Will you dedicate the next six weeks to exploring the inner and outer forces that could align your energies with your deeper purpose or call. If so, join us with your questions - to explore biblical stories of call, engage in fun and practical exercises, and discover others on the same path with the expectation that you will gain clarity and direction.
