at 276 Carroll St
The Seekers School of Christian Living will offer a second six-week term beginning Tuesday, October 25 and ending Tuesday, November 25. We will gather for dinner (provided for four dollars per meal) at 7:00. The classes run from 7:45 until 9:30. You can sign-up for the second term by Writing us .Two courses will be offered.
The first course is based on Jim Wallis' book, God's Politics - Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It, will be led by David Lloyd. (Jim Wallis, the founder of the Sojourners Community and the convener of The Call to Renewal, a group of churches and faith based organizations attempting to change public policy to address poverty.) Wallis wrote this book after the 2004 election. We will discuss the book's vision of a politics that engages personal religious values in public policy, especially referring to the religious values of the Judaeo-Christian tradition.
The second course, Reading Spiritual Autobiography, led by Cynthia Dahlin and Nancy Lawrence, will be an unusual opportunity to read and discuss the spiritual autobiographies of other Seekers. Writing one's spiritual and then sharing with others in the community is both one of the requirements for becoming a Steward of Seekers Church and valuable spirit work in its own right. These autobiographies often provide valuable insights not only into the spiritual development of their authors but also into the spiritual life generally, particularly in the context of Seekers Church. In this class, several Seekers will share their spiritual histories with class members interested in deepening their own journeys in the Spirit.
