Seekers School of Christian Living
Tuesdays, October 25 though November 25
at 276 Carroll St
The Seekers School of Christian Living will offer two six-week terms this fall. The first term will run from Tuesday, September 13 through Tuesday, October 18. (The dates for the second term are Tuesday, October 25 though Tuesday, November 25.) We will gather for dinner (provided for four dollars per meal) at 7:00. The classes run from 7:45 until 9:30.
During the first six-week term (9/13 - 10/18), we will offer two courses, "Called Out of Egypt: Reading the Book of Exodus" and "Spiritual Writing."
will be led by Jeanne and Steve Marcus.
For both Jews and Christians, the Exodus account of Israel's liberation from oppression and its covenant relationship with God is central to understanding God's identity and our own. Here are contained the great themes of faith: identity, belonging, divine power, human empire, homelessness, obedience, forgiveness, and more. This class will supplement the Scriptural account with Jewish resources such as midrash, rabbinic teachings and chant to enrich our understanding of this core narrative. Through our discussions, we will also attempt to relate the exodus to both our own inner experiences and current political realities.
will be led by Cynthia Dahlin.
Writing about your life and beliefs in a prayerful and communal setting is a way to go deeper in relationship with one another and with God. In this class, we will typically center, discuss a theme of importance in our lives, then go into silence and write for about 30-40 minutes. We will share our writing without judgment or comment, and then process our reaction to the abundance and creativity we have experienced. Cynthia comments: "It sounds simple, folks, but using this process at N Street Village, there is not a week that goes by that I don't learn a deep lesson about God and my fellow pilgrims in life, and I hope you come and share your life and spirituality with us!"
You can sign-up for the first term, which begins Tuesday, September 13 by Writing us .
