The real life issues facing us on the planet today are messy and ambiguous, contradictory and tough. Their complexity is a reason to engage them, not a reason to turn away. How can we encourage each other in embracing them? How can we help each other participate in the larger turning toward healing which is called for at this time in history? What is your part? What is my part? What is our part as a community of Seekers?
These questions underlie this two class series where we will begin to experience The Work That Reconnects. The Work That Reconnects is founded on the understanding that cognitive information about the crises we face, or even about our psychological responses to them, is insufficient. We can only free ourselves from our fear of getting permanently mired in despair or shattered by grief - when we allow ourselves to open to the pain of the world and so touch that place in ourselves from which also arise our powers to act on behalf of our interconnectedness with all beings. When we reconnect with life, the mind retrieves its natural clarity.
We will use the vehicle of A Council for All Beings to begin engaging in these questions. Participation in both classes is necessary: May 15: Introducing the Council and begin preparation for it. Homework will involve identifying and creating a simple way of representing - through cloth, construction paper, etc - a being on the planet today - animal, vegetable, or mineral being.
May 22: The Council for All Beings. The being you chose will come to Class II and be part of the Council.
To think on:
The separate parts of humanity are coming together to form a whole that is greater than and unpredictable from the sum of its parts. Synergy feels like love, loving one another as ourselves. We are, in fact, one body! Our capacities as a whole are infinitely greater than when we are separate tribes and nations. Once our consciousness shifts from feeling separated to knowing that we are all members of one body, our vast technological genius begins to serve the growth of ourselves as one planet. And that consciousness shift can happen in the twinkling of an eye. Once our consciousness shifts collectively, we can restore the Earth, we can feed all peoples, we can emancipate unique potential. We can!
