The Learners and Teachers mission will be offering the following class at the School of Christian Living.
6 Tuesday Evenings (Oct 26-Nov 30) led by Anne Beaufort. For those who want to begin or continue exploring their spiritual path through writing. Participants will have the opportunity to set a personal agenda within the space of our weekly meeting and homework, whether it be to explore ways of centering through writing or praying or connecting to the natural world or telling the stories that want to be told about the past and present. I will suggest writing practices, we'll write and share our writing together each week and consider Patricia Hampl's spiritual autobiography, Virgin Time. Bring a journal and favorite pen to the first class and $15 to cover the cost of the book and other materials. The class will count towards a Christian Growth credit.
The School of Christian Living offers a way to create deeper community for those already a part of Seekers as well as an important opportunity to explore the Seekers concept of church for those who are new to the community.
We meet Tuesdays near Dupont Circle. The classes are free. Each Tuesday evening will begin at 7pm with a communal meal, which costs $2 (which may be paid at the beginning of the session or each week). Volunteers will be solicited for each week to help prepare the meal, provide a short meditation, and help clean up after the meal.
Classes begin promptly at 8:00 and end by 9:30 pm. This semester the Learners and Teachers Mission Group offers two courses on Tuesday nights. Beginning on October 26 and continuing to November 30. Participants will be expected to complete assignments and prepare for each week’s class. For the sake on continuity, participants are requested to avoid missing more than two sessions.
