"What do I believe? Seekers is an ecumenical Christian Church and not based on a particular Christian creed. Nevertheless, knowing what I believe and hearing what others believe is important for my spiritual growth. This class will look at Christian doctrinal issues, not from a historical perspective, but from the perspective of Christians entering the 21st century - Who is God in the age of science? Who is Jesus after Biblical scholarship and archeology? What does it mean to say Jesus is the Christ? What is sin in the post-Freudian world? What is truth in the dialogue with eastern religions? And more...."
The book "Christianity Must Change or Die" by Spong will be used as a resource.
This course will fulfill the Seekers requirement for doctrinal studies.

"This six week class will provide participants an opportunity to start, update, or revise stories and reflections on the spiritual journey as it has unfolded in their lives. Well consider the process of selecting subject matter to work with, how to write about the unknowable and the things known without words, and how to keep journaling as a vital part of our spiritual practice. We may also read a single text together or selections from several texts to see how others have put in words their spiritual journeys. All you need is the desire to write, a notebook or journal, and your favorite writing pen."
This course will count towards the Seekers requirement for Christian Growth studies.
We meet Tuesdays near Dupont Circle. The classes are free. Each Tuesday evening will begin at 7pm with a communal meal, which costs $2 (which may be paid at the beginning of the session or each week). Volunteers will be solicited for each week to help prepare the meal, provide a short meditation, and help clean up after the meal. Meals will begin at 7pm, and classes will be held from 7:45 to 9:30. Participants will be expected to complete assignments and prepare for each weeks class.
