Sonya Dyer and Billy Amoss
6 weeks from February 10-March 17
As Christians, we are called to live by love and in community, to be part of the Body of Christ. Yet, this call can feel oppressive, inducing feelings of guilt over the huge gap between the teachings of the Gospels and the "selfish" way we lead our lives. We yearn for the communal life, but we also resist it in our inmost selves. This tension can keep us in perpetual conflict or be the inspiration that encourages us to live out of call. Our class will explore life within and outside of Seekers in order to come to a deeper understanding of how our true passions connect us to the divine reality of Christian community. We will try to come to a fresh recognition of the many dimensions of Christian life. Drawing on experience and selected readings, we will identify structures that nurture and embolden us to live out of our gifts in community in Seekers and in the world.

6 weeks from February 10-March 17
This art course for non-artists will loosely follow the process outlined in Jo Milgrams book Hand Made Midrash. We will focus on selected scriptural texts (both First and New Testament), especially narratives. We will read several translations of each text in order to get a sense of the overtones in the original languages, take note of traditional and newer commentaries on the text, and look at art that has been made in response to the texts. Class members will then be invited to an intuitive, nonverbal art process in order to discover new or latent meanings in the text. These meanings will be shared with other members in the group.
Marjory Bankson and Paul Holmes

In addition to our regular Tuesday night sessions, please reserve Saturday, March 28, for an extended time together to build community.
