Guatemala Pilgrimage Update

Seekers’ Guatemala Pilgrimage

An Update from Marjory and Peter Bankson

Last fall, after the successful completion of our 15th opportunity to lead groups of about two dozen pilgrims from across the country to support the work of PAVA in the highland of Guatemala, we stepped aside from organizing a trip in 2016. We offered to work with other Seekers to carry the trip forward, but no one was able to respond positively this year. So, with some sadness, we have set down our call to lead the Guatemala pilgrimage. We remain committed to supporting the work of PAVA, and are ready to help others who are called to continue this ministry.

We have been in touch with members of the Board of Directors of PAVA, and are delighted with the news that the library project in Panimachavac, is moving forward. Panimachavac  is the village in Chimaltenango where we focused our attention is 2014 and 2015. The people of that village have a strong vision for becoming an educational center in their region. It was a privilege to help them move toward their dreams. Click here to see images of progress over the past three years on the education and community center in Panimachavac.

In June, the people of Panimachavac celebrated the opening of their new library! Click here to read a report from the P.A.V.A. Foundation on the opening of the new library in June, 2016.

As a church, we continue to support the work of PAVA, and keep praying for guidance on how best to nurture our connections.
