1. Why Mission Groups?

Called by God to a particular area of service. Young or old; regardless of experience, skills or education; despite our past successes or failures - God gives each of us an individual call.

Broadly defined, this is a call to a life of love and service. Concretely, it is a highly individual desire to be about a particular work in the world and in the church. It is a desire placed by God in the heart of each of us, to be servants to others and stewards of God's creation.

Mission groups are the structure we have found most helpful in supporting us as we respond to these calls by God. In Seekers, Mission Groups support:

• The need for each of us to pursue an interior life of spiritual growth along with others who are similarly called;
• The need for each of us to discover and exercise our own gifts;
• The need of disciplines, not only in our individual lives but in a group too, for each of us to realize our full potential;
• The need to know ourselves if we are to be a growing people;
• The need to be shepherds to others, as well as the willingness to allow others to shepherd us;
• The need for accountability for who we say we are and what we mean to do;
• The willingness to nurture a call, to grow and mature in it, and finally, to go out to serve in the name of Christ and the church.
